David Hirt has been talking, for entertainment and information purposes, since he was a toddler. By the time he was twelve, he was studying acting in a university setting, carrying on by ultimately receiving his degree in Theatre Arts. After spending time behind a mic in a radio station, David knew his path was that of “a voice, an accent, a character.” David’s professional “voice” career began with nine years in the broadcast industry, specifically television. During this time he anchored news and weather and wrote and produced an award-winning daily educational show for children.
After television, came over forty years in corporate America and governmental consulting. David continued his voice work in announcing, narrating and off-the-job gigs as regular call-in characters on a radio morning show. Nearly 30 years ago, David turned his complete focus to working in the entertainment business, specifically voice overs. He has narrated documentaries and training films for regional, national and international companies and audiences. His voice has brought life to national products in commercials, been used in numerous pageants and corporate conferences, broadcast over acres of sound system in a resort setting and graced “on hold” narrative for educational and corporate phone systems. His credits in voice-overs for commercials are extensive, ranging from the local to the regional to the national spotlight.
David enjoys a sideline career as a much-in-demand storyteller, ever using his incredibly versatile voice to entertain, offer a laugh, inform and even enlighten. “I’m just the messenger,” he says. “I go with Einstein in believing my talent is my gift from God. Using that talent is my gift to God.” And, we might add – his gift to anybody that will listen.
His next step, logically, was to step into his lifelong dream of becoming Santa Claus. That move has lead to over 30 years of BEING Santa. Including the obligatory high-end mall Santa, movies, television, modeling and both public and private appearances.
As most men go through a mid life crisis, their hobbies become high end automotive, expensive audio and photographic equipment. David, however has invested in Santa costumes, accessories and associated gear.
Even with all of his accomplishments, his greatest joy is now, and always has been his family. This includes deceased wife, Betty, of over 50 years, his daughter Julianna and granddaughter Maris.
